Have gone a long time between updates.

Long story short:
1) I have gone to the nurburgring 3 times now and have done about 4 laps. It is even scarier and more awesome than I ever imagined it could be.

2) I moved off base and have a nice little place in Otterbach with my own garage.

3) Went to the Castle Nanstein in Landstule right near base.

4) I went to Rally Germany in Trier (I should make a separate post about that)

5) I have started spending lots of money on the chaser

Sport Auto Tuner GP/Drift Part 1

I made my way over to the Hockenheimring last Saturday which is relatively a short drive from Ramstein, only about 1 hour or so depending on traffic. The track is interesting because it is right in the middle of Hockenheim proper. Most race tracks are located out in the sticks to that they are isolated from large population centers. The parking area for the track even had a kids daycare and city park incorporated into it.

When we walked in, we where met with all sorts of automotive pornography. There were immaculate examples of exotica where ever you turned.

Such as this neon green 6 series race car.

And a previous LeMans 24h race winning Audi, to the not so exotic but still classic

Like this extremely clean old school mini.

Then there was this car which I had never heard about before. Its called an Artega GT. A mid engine car with a 98,000 Euro price tag ouch...

Speaking of price tags this Brabus modified SLS had one in excess of 400,000 Euro damn!

This Gulf Oil themed Porsche race car drew my attention, I will always love that paint scheme.

Matte paint is a very popular trend here in germany and its easy to see why. This TT looks mean as hell.

This BMW 2002ti was one of the cars that was racing in the tuner GP race that day. It was way to clean to be a race car and under the hood...

Easily one of my favorite cars from the show.

Germans seemingly waste no time turning brand new production cars in to full race cars as seen by this BMW 1M.

I am also a big fan of the lotus Exige

It was nice to see few restrictions on the pits. All the fans had easy access to pit lane and could check out the cars running in the day's activities up close.

Showing just how sick a good matte paint job can look.

This oldschool mercedes S class was sitting pretty all day on a set of mid nineties vintage AMG rollers.

There were even quite a few vintage DTM race cars on hand to take part in a race to remember the good ole' days.

These cars have been maintained meticulously and it showed.

some of the coolest cars were not part of the show per say but were in the parking lot like this 2002 WRX.

I am Headed off to the Sport Auto drift challenge tomorrow. It is the biggest drift / Time Attack event in Germany. I can't wait to shoot some pics and meet some of the drivers from the area. Wish me luck!

Sigma just released a new lens that has me drooling. It is a 120-300mm 2.8 optically stabilized zoom.

Its a big heavy lens but it would be perfect for shooting trackside at motorsports events. It is way out of my price range though. I am going to see if I can't rent one for when I go to the 24 hour race at the nurburgring. Im going to need some fast glass with some reach and this fits the bill.

So now we move on to the Pro side of the event.

I have to admit that I am a pretty big FD fanboi. I love the pro side of things. I always hear the talk from people who do not like FD because the cars aren't like what people on the grassroots side of things use and that its getting away from its origins. They don't like the influx of V8's and racecar tech that is being used in modern day FD pro cars. I think these gripes are rather funny though because all of those things are what I love about FD. I love the tech that is going into the cars today because it makes sense.

Okay I think i'll get into that a bit later I have pictures to post. Im not going to have too much writing in here since so many other blogs have done a much better job. I spent more time talking to people than actually watching the entire event so I can't really give a play by play. Anyway here are some pics I took that I really like.

NotHotlanta Part. 1

So after 2 years absence I was finally able to go to another FD event. I specifically chose my leave dates in order to go to FD Atlanta this year. This event means a lot to me and I was thrilled to be able to go before I made my flight out to Germany just a few short days later.

This first part will focus on some pro-am coverage. I love the more grassroots side of things, especially since I knew most of the drivers that were involved and I was having a blast hanging out with all my old friends.

And fello out of orlando, I owe him for the time my radiator exploded. He was at the event and turned out he had a spare one at his house. He drove me to his house (Almost and hour a away) to pick up it up and drove back and even helped me get it installed and bled out before the event ended and I was able to drive home. (Thanks big time man)

Plus he is a damn good driver

Then there was Ryan Kaufman who was kind enough to stop by and give me a ride from Florida up to Atlanta. He was out killing it all weekend even when his bumper was holding on for dear life.

Jason Giovanni was also out there killing it in his LS1 powered Banana hammock...I mean 240sx.

I miss the old burn orange color scheme of his old car so I make fun of the yellow everytime im around him to which he usually tells me to fuck off lol.

Then there is Jeremy Lowe, called J.lowe (just like the famous walking ass attached to a woman)

His driving style is perhaps my favorite out of all the florida drivers, He is very aggressive and never fails to impress me in one form or another.

Chris MotherFuckin' Jackson, in his 2JZ (no shit) powered Banana Con Big ass stripe. He was having Mechanical problems all event and was having a hard time staying in drift. Its a real shame because that car sounds sick.

Pat "I got a V8 Bro" Goodin, was driving extremely well all weekend despite having his tow vehical basically die on the spot when they showed up in the paddock.

Well most of those shots were taken during practice and qualifying. The actual competition was later that night after FD pro qualifying. I'll be honest I didn't take any pictures during the comp, I took video instead. I have uploaded alot of it on my other youtube channel which can be seen @ Piner Productions

While I was in the states I stopped by one of my favorite go kart tracks, Palm Beach International Raceway.

I hadn't been there in a while and I was surprised to see they had brand new karts that handled wonderfully. Plus their prices stayed pretty much the same so I was very excited to get to go Karting after such and long time.

I was out with a group of guys who were doing this as part of a bachelor party. Now I wish I could be modest but I am a pretty egotistical prick. I totally wiped the floor with them. I lapped all of them at least 3 times per ten minute session. This is normally the case when ever I've gone karting.

As fun as passing n00bs is, I really would like to get out and drive with people of my skill level sometimes so that I can get even faster.

Im sure you are tired of the random vacation photos but I'm sorta proud of these.

Daytona Beach is blessed with some wonderful weather for a good portion of the year. One of the reasons I miss it so much.

It also one of those cities that was built up in the Art Deco era of architecture but it also has interesting buildings such as this amphitheater that do not follow that style.

This is definitely art deco here.

There are things to be said about places that you have lived in your life but there really only can be one place you can call your "favorite". This place is special to you for certain reasons maybe you can't even describe what the reasons are but you just know they are there.

My personal favorite is Daytona Beach FL, self proclaimed "The Worlds Most Famous Beach". I live here for 2 years prior to joining the military and I have to say that it is a wonderful place. It was awesome just to be back and smell the salt air, enjoy the beach and watch the sunrise once more.

You can drive on the beach, how freaking cool is that.

Its almost like its saying "This way to beauty".

So here are some of the pics I took from that korean Drift event I went to (The same one from the video). This was my first try at shooting stills and video for an event with a decent camera. Let me know what you think

The event was 97% hyundai genesis's. There where only two other cars that were not of the korean variety. There was ONE S13 and one 350z. Such an odd thing when you are used to events in the states where 90% of the cars are nissans.

Everybody has kAAz stickers on their cars. I asked what was up with that and apparently they are the only after-market LSD manufacturer that makes one for the BK chassis.

The day started off rather wet with rain and mist, but as the event kicked off the sun came out and dryed the whole track out rather quickly.

These three cars where owned by "PRO's" the two greenish ones were described to me as the two best drifters in korea.

They definitely had some of the most modified cars at the event.

This one was the 3.8L V6 model with a fully custom single turbo setup. Besides the turbo itself none of these parts are off the shelf.

This was the only S13 at the event, guy was doing pretty good too.

This car is owned by Richard Kim, he is an american who lives in korea for working purposes and was my ride up to the event. He is a really cool guy, Thanks again Richard!

I bet the Z33 feels a bit out of place.

This car was a beast, 3.8L V6 with a loud ass supercharger. The driver was quite good as well winning the little competition they held at the end of the day.

Not one of these cars were towed to the track, the event had a very "run what ya brung" feel to it.

The sound of the supercharger made me pay alot of attention to this car. I have so many pictures of it lol.

*This post is really late since I bought these months ago but anyways*

I went ahead an Bought myself a few new lenses and I thought I'd share some pictures I took with them.

First off is my new Nikon Nikkor 35mm 1.8

This is a Prime lens so it has no zoom at all it is just 35mm focal length so it is very close to the natural view of the human eye on a nikon DX sensor camera like my D3100. I love this lens, it takes amazingly clear and sharp pictures even in really low light. Like this shot right here....

And it can be combined with a fish eye adapter for some pretty cool effects

having the big aperture capability is awesome for low light

making it the perfect "Bar" lens

Next up is the Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1.4D

Now this is an older lens and unfortunately my camera does not have an auto focus motor built into it (I want to upgrade later on) so I have to use manual focus but thats fine because I mainly bought it for video use in which I use manual focus anyways. For taking pictures of non moving things the manual focus isn't a bad thing.

Shooting wide open at 1.4 makes the background take on this dreamy milky effect.

This was a little store in seoul that sold really detailed and expensive car models

I love how you can play with it and get that nice little sweet spot right where you want it.

I thought this little ferrari garage was really cool.

I also bought a nikon Nikkor 55-300mm 4.5-5.6 VR

Yeah I know this is late but you know what "they" say. So I went to Seoul to celebrate new years with my friends. New years to me isn't just "New Start" that it is to most people or simply another year gone by as it is also my Birthday. Yes I am a new years baby as much as I tired of being called that (Oooohh you're a new years baby!). So I decided to actually do this new years up right and make up for last year (I was in Afghanistan and had to work :Sad Face:)

After getting more interested in photography I have decided to take the plunge and buy a "real" camera, a DSLR. More specifically a Nikon D3100. Now mind you this is an entry level camera but it should still work great for my purposes. Going from the cheapest point and shoot I could buy at the BX to this is a big jump in quality and involvement. Now I am looking at lenses and drooling over all of the awesome shit I get to waste my money on (My favorite thing to do it seems like).

well enough blathering and on to the first few keepers I have shot since last night.

I can't wait till I get better at using this thing!

From my last post you could probably guess I was really pissed off and you would be right. I was very frustrated by the fact that I ended up missing my flight due to people who are supposed to be slightly concerned about my well being, in reality they are not at all.

Despite all of this I made it to Japan although a day late with a lighter wallet than I expected to have. Now having time to reflect on the trip as a whole makes me wish I was a better writer and could weave a story that would be able to explain just how amazing my trip really was. The truth is I don't even know where to start but I did find a video that might help convey how at least the Matsuri part of the weekend went down.

Seoul Tower + engrish

So I decided I wanted to go to the tower since it is starting to get chilly out and I wasn't going to have many more chances before it gets cold outside. It is at the top of this small mountain in the center of Seoul itself. The tower base is actually high enough that I had my ears pop on the way up. When I headed off base there was a air show happening, so people where naturally trying to get on base to watch it. This was the first time I had ever seen a Lotus Elan so I had to take a couple pics.

When I arrived at Seoul Station, I walked outside and I saw this group of people holding some interesting looking signs.

They posed a bit and smiled but the guy on the far left seemed a bit mad asking me "Why you take picture!?" I don't know what his problem was, hell I don't even know what the signs even say. I also saw this and I thought it was kinda cool since the formula 1 race here in SoKo is only 2 weeks away.

I was later disappointed to find out that it was advertising for the following day where F1 cars would be doing a demo run down Seoul's downtown streets, a fact I was unaware of. I am sad I didn't go.

Then I walked around and found a store and pretty much half of it was all Gundam models. I thought it was pretty cool since I used to be really into this stuff. There was stuff I wanted to buy pretty bad actually but I restrained myself since I didn't need to spend needlessly.

I wanted this bad as I am a pretty big Evangelion fan.

I then got in a cab and asked to go to to the tower and I met a cabbie that actually spoke decent English and drove like well.... a Korean cabbie, batshit crazy. I am serious when I say this country does not believe in traffic laws. I am sure they have them but it doesn't seem like anyone follows them. Oddly though I have been here 6 months and have not seen a single traffic accident.

Anyways as I neared the summit, I was consummately dumped off by my driver. I was met with this amazingly steep ass hill to walk up. It was literally a workout getting up it. The pictures do not show how steep it really is.

Then I proceeded to take a bunch of pictures of things I thought were relevant but they came out like crap due to the fact that I am a shitty photographer.

I found some amusing engrish.

I also thought this was cool, it appears its a custom when coming to the tower to bring a lock and attach it to the railing or these christmas tree looking things.

So I had thought when I came to South Korea I had finally gotten away from the hurricanes that had been a decent chunk of my life while living in Florida or South Carolina. Technically I did, they call them Typhoons here... Fuck.

So I have purchased my tickets for japan. The biggest benefit in my mind of being in south korea is my relative proximity to japan. It is only a 2 hour trip by plane from Incheon ROK to Narita Japan. Also the price for the ticket, round trip was only $352 USD. Freaking awesome! Now to put a deposit on a missile car.

Just 10 weeks left :D

In reality its not that long from now but I just wish the months would go by a bit quicker.

Story is that this is a On car shot from my qualifying runs at MB drift. The first run I totally fubar'ed because I didn't warm my tires up and they were cold from taking a break earlier. The second run I went out and drove balls out but I still made a bunch of mistakes biggest of all was driving through the exit the wrong way netting me a off course and I DQ'ed myself. I was told later on after the competition by one of the judges that that run would have been worth the 2nd qualifing spot if I hadn't drove off course. Ohh well I still had fun either way.

ohh BTW this little POS blog just hit the 1000 hit milestone. yay and stuff, not that impressive I know.

Their cars tend to be pretty riced out, but most all of them have what would be pretty legit wheels in the states except for their sizing. They tend to run 15's and 16's predominantly but they are work's ray's gram light's volk's BBS's advan's.

This car is owned by an American who works on base, I haven't met him yet but his car is pretty funny looking although it fits in with the ricey stuff that rolls down the streets here.

On the other end of the spectrum are the random dope cars I see, one of the cool things I noticed is I have been seeing quite a few kia forte's with dry carbon fiber roof skins. I am not sure if it is a factory option since I have seen very stock looking examples with CF roof's. Seems extravagant to go for that right from the get go.

.. since my last post, I have been working alot. I took a tour to the everland theme park last month specifically to go to the racetrack they have there. Its one of the only ones in the entire country. Well I come to find out when i get there that it is closed for renovations and I couldn't get any info of when it was going to open back up so well I went to the theme park for the day instead. It was your pretty standard kids theme park but since it was in april the cherry trees were in full bloom and were amazing to look at.

It was only 30 bucks to get in for the whole day and surprisingly almost everyone who worked there spoke english so I really didn't have any difficulties while i was there. I still felt bad that I couldn't speak any korean. I am still learning bits and pieces.

Yeah its a kids park alright but still all the colors were so bright i figured these pics would come out pretty decent. I mean the camera was only 100 bucks so considering that I don't think they came out to bad.

Despite being a kids park though they had a couple sick roller coasters.

This wooden one scared the crap out of me! Mostly because the support beams were no clearance for taller riders... I literally thought I was going to hit my head on these beams at 40-50 mph. I would have been ex-paul.

I could say more about the park but really the pics can give you a good idea on what it is like.

DMZ tour

So I have decided that every Saturday that I can I will be taking a tour somewhere if I can help it. I have been here 3 weeks and I have taken a tour every weekend so far. The second tour that I went on was to the D.M.Z. or Demilitarized Zone. This is the 4km wide Corridor between north and south Korea.

This place is something else. It makes you feel like full scale war could break out any minute between the two. Even though I was only visiting you can just feel the tension in the air since it really is a full on stand off. Their weapons are pointed at us and our weapons are pointed at them. Its been this way for more than 60 years, crazy stuff. Well enough talk, on to the pics.

This was built as a memorial to the years of separation and in hope that in the 21st century the two Koreas can once again be one.

This hunk of rust is a train that was attacked in the korean war and was stranded in the DMZ for over 50 years, it was recovered and put on display. This thing is a big symbol of the war to south Korea.

In this building you get a briefing about how dangerous the are you are going into is and you have to sign a waiver that you realize that fighting could break out at any time and that they cannot guarantee your safety. I kept my waiver lol.
We were not allowed to take pics on the way to the JSA so I have to skip that part.

So after fixing my half-shaft bolts I decided I should dyno my car as I didn't actually know how much power it was putting down to the ground.

Yeah thats about what I thought it should be putting down. Notice the weird hicups in the higher rev range. Yeah I don't know what those are. Probably needs a retune or something. Well that was my last friday in the states for a long time so nothing will happen with the car for a while and this will now transition to Piner's South Korean Tourist Blog.

So our first event at the Silver Drag way was a bit unorganized as we were not sure how much time we would have to split between drifting and drag racing. We pretty much ran the dragstrip and the skid pad at the same time.

The course was fairly simple and open ended more gymkhana style than drifting. Heres a video of me testing the course.

The next time around I sheered off 3 of my drivers side half-shaft bolts because the other 3 on the half-shaft backed out.

So the day after the myrtle beach drift event we went down to Silver Dragway and talked to the owners about letting us use their little Concrete pad to hold quasi drift events with the possibility of them maybe paving more area for us to play on. They didn't quite have a idea of what we were talking about so Mitch and I decided to do a little demo for them.

I mean it wasn't much but you'd be surprised at the power a tandem donut has over the uninitiated.

There was event the very next weekend and I had that whole week to get my front sway bar hooked up. Yeah that should be enough time cause i all I needed was the little bracket to hook the drivers side up to. Sure would only take a minute. Yeah.... my lazy ass never got around to it soo I pretty much just drove the event without any sway bars at all again. But I did end up getting my longer wheel bolts in the mail so I could run my sweet wheels with my dunlop Z1's up front. Now this event went off without much of a hitch except for the fact I was a dumbass and kept disregarding the exit of the course pretty much all day.

Now I was told by the judges that If I had driven through the actual exit of the course (marked by the cones that were standing up) I would have qualified 2nd and would have moved on to tandem. But because I am a retard I got a off course on pretty much all of my runs. I mean I pretty much drove to the right of the exit all day. See here is another one in practice where I was giving my dad's G/F a ride.

But a good thing happened that day, my Team mate and good buddy Mitch Durfee ended up qualifying for tandem and fought his way to get third place! This was his first event doing tandem and he killed it out there even without having powersteering in the car.

So time for a epicly long post.

I haven't posted on here for a while due to sheer lazyness. But now that I am bored I will fill you in on what hath happened in the last month or so.

Well the night before the Street wise drift event at Charlotte motorspeedway I sheered a control arm balljoint shank clean off. Yeah sheered the fuck off. I am not sure how this happened but all I know I was making a U turn because drove past Nickles Garage by mistake and right as I am turning the car just falls on the ground and goes straight into the grass. I get out of the car and my lower control arm is actually outside of the car and my wheel has some crazy demon camber shit going on. I start going into freakout mode. Then I remembered that we had two E30's sitting at the shop that I could jack a control arm off of. Now mind you my car is still halfway in highway 261 and cars are going by at about 60 mph or so. Sooo I needed to get the control arms swapped out FAST. I pretty much ended up doing most of the work myself, Travis and Kyle brought most of the tools over so that was a big help and Mitch letting me use the tools from the shop was also a godsend.

I ended up working on this whole control arm deal for about 2 1/2 hours, pulling the spare arm off the e30 and then installing it on my car all the while it was dark and raining. Ohh and guess what!! My new wheels... you know the awesomely sick Gotti's? Yeah well the hubs on those are thicker than a normal E36 wheel soooo I was only catching 2 threads on them. Found that out when trying to put them back on. So I put my old wheels back on which right now have crappy used slide tires on them Great...

So the next morning we left a bit late for the event so we averaged like 90mph to get there on time and I tried all morning to get to a BMW dealership and see if they had longer wheel bolts (fucking Germans) yeah... not only did they not have longer ones they didn't have any oops I meant to say they had ONE wheel bolt. So that was a complete waste of almost 2 hours and meant that I missed the whole first practice session completely.

Soo I just had to go out on the crappy sumitomo whatever front tires and do what I knew how to do and try to get the course down before the comp runs. Also as a result from the sheered control arm deal I was also running with no front sway bar and I had been driving without a rear sway bar a for a little while as well (no events though)

That was pretty much my best run of the day. I had only 5 practice runs to get the course down, and with the car handling radically different from what I was used to (no sways, shit tires up front) I was happy with that. Plus I ended up placing third! Hell to the yea!

Yeah so I got the car driving all good and everything. I was getting excited for the event on the 13th of feb and wouldn't you know it the night before that it freaking snowed! I mean this is south carolina. It wasn't just a little snow either we got 8 inches... Crazy.

So even though my friends tried to stop me from driving the 2 hours to Myrtle Beach I soldiered on and got to the event in one piece. Amazingly they didn't cancel it but very few people came to drive so I got loads and loads of track time. I must have done 40 something runs.

Yeah so I tried to drift in an event today and the car pretty much broke on the way to the track. The thermostat resivoir I replaced started leaking im not sure why but anyhow I left it at a gas station on the way to the track and went with my friends and slid their cars. I got to drive a LT1 manual firebird(stock), a AE86 levin coupe with a 4agze swap, and the RX7 I posted up here before the one with the small block in it. I actually linked the course in the firebird first try and got better with it in the following runs. The other two not so much. The AE86 I only got one run in but it was fun I spun out once durring the run so I think I could have done better, and the RX-7 really really needs more steering angle.

but yeah my car is still sitting there so im gonna try to fix it tomorrow.

Yeah so on labor day weekend I decided to drive back down to Florida to see my friends again before I deploy. Wouldn't you know it there was an event in Orlando on Friday night. So I got some tires ready on some wheels and other misc crap, then headed down there. Drive was about 6-1/2 hours to the track including picking a few of my friends up on the way down.

The track is called Central Florida Race Center, it was built not too long ago it includes a 1/8 mile drag stip, go kart track, a skid pad for drifting and somewhat of a road course. We were drifting on part of the go kart track. Track setup was sorta like a smaller version of the balcony events at willow springs (straight into a figure eight into a straight into the back turn). So I parked threw all of my crap out of the car and pulled into line.

My first run I drifted most of the course, not an awesome run but not bad for first run on that layout since I didnt spin and drifted all the main parts of the course. My second run I feel was the best I almost linked the entire track on my second run I straightened out on one of the straights but other wise pretty close.

ok so maybe I lied about that almost linking the track deal. So then I went up for my third run and was feeling pretty good. Went out and pushed harder than my second run annnnd spun twice lol. But I did this sick slide into the back turn.

well about 5 mins later driving through the parking lot my radiator exploded. Like literally EXPLODED! BOOM! Blew the fuck up. Like someone threw a hand grenade under my hood. The plastic end tank on it just went BOOM.

so that ended me drifting that night and started my quest for another radiator. Fortunately there were a few other E36 guys there that night and one of them (Fellow from Bimmer forums) was there and said he had a radiator I could buy off of him. We ran down to his house and got it drove back installed it and got it all back together right around the time the track was closing up.

I spent the rest of the weekend in Daytona with my friends.

Well I have been pretty short on cash lately so no recent recorded hoonage, but I am planning on going up and watching the redline time attack event that is being run about 30 mins west of where I live. It will be held at the carolina motorsports complex. So far I have driven by the track never actually been to the facility. It looks like a really nice place and I just want to go out and watch some built time attack monsters go at it. Plus I have nothing better to do that day.

yeah so the event went awesome, I didn't have much time to actually do a full update before, so here it goes. So woke up early in the morning and rounded everyone up and headed out on the 2 hour drive to Charlotte for the event and for like the first time in 2 years I showed up early, and I remembered why being early sucks. Well with that out of the way we set up shop there by the fence by getting the grill ready and grilling up some delicious meat in the form of burgers. The little pop up awning I bought was a cheap POS that wouldn't stay up without being tied to every heavy object in our disposal but it gave us the shade we needed for the long wait to drive that is normal at these events.

Tech went smooth and soon we were set up in run groups, I was in group C and Alan was in group D ( which was nice since I had a vynal "D" on my windshield from the last event. First runs were great aside from a spin or two since the tires I was running were worn down to steel even before I made a run on them ( NOO grip at all) And I was told those runs were the best first runs by anyone there, Idk if this is true or not but yeah. The set of tires I was on only lasted 3 runs and on the 3rd run the passengers side blew up and popped my rear bumper halfway off (LOL) people seemed to enjoy that. Went in and changed tires then it was Alan's turn. This was his first serious time trying to drift in a car (Instead of a truck on dirt der'her) so its understandable that he was a little cautious. He spun most every run but made good progress throughout the day and managed to pull off a few nice transitions at the end of the day and completed some decent slides. More seat time and he'll be set.

Then it was my turn again and this time I actually had a set of tires on the back that had grip. Plus they are my favorite slide tires of all time (Continental sportcontact 2's) so this time I had alot more control over the car and proceeded to rip the tracks face off, with linking every one of my 5 runs in my run group and blowing up the passenger side tire in the middle of run 5. The tire blew on the second corner of the last run but I still held control over the car and completed linking the course with a flat tire (VIDEO BELOW).

Threw on my next set of tires to drive home on and then went out for one run on them to see that they were like. I had never driven on these brand and model tires before (Dunlop direzza DZ101) before so I was excited to see if they were as good as Chelsea used to say they were. They were very good first run on them I linked the course again and felt very confident on them even though one tire had 30psi in it and the other had 40psi (Oops..)

Then actually the highlight of my day. I got to drive a bone stock '08 ford mustang GT manual. When I say drive I mean slide that bitch around like it owed me money. The young man who let me drive it was cool as hell for letting me take a spin in it. I was amazed at how good it was straight out of the factory, it understeered a little bit but nothing you couldn't drive around. I linked the entire course first time out in it no problem (sorry no video :( ). I used to hate mustangs and ford but after driving that car I have had thoughts about buying one lol, don't worry though in too broke to do that anyway.

soo I installed the eyeball arms, front control arms, swaybar endlinks, and tie rods like 2 days ago and got it aligned yesterday and well. I can't really tell much of a difference to be honest... I mean its feels a bit tighter but other than that its not too different or so I thought. Well turns out you can't tell the difference until the car is traveling in a lateral motion lol. Big difference when sliding the car. I went out in the rain yesterday and slid some off ramps with like total control. Much better feedback through the wheel and overall more predictable well worth the money.

Now the next thing is that I am driving in another event this Sunday and its a practice event so I thought I would use it to coach the other members of my team. Really we don't even have a name for it yet, and currently I am the best driver out of the bunch and thats not saying much. Well anyway Alan is going to be driving my car and trying to learn how to drift. The car is a decent setup so he really shouldnt have to much trouble.

Now I just have to survive on like 10 bucks till next wed.

well I installed the intake mani only because I didnt have any money for an alignment and the manifold I already had all the parts for.

Yeah that shit wasn't as easy as it sounded. I mean I took the old one off and put all the adapter stuff on the new manifold then tried to hook it all up. It took me like 45 mins to take apart and like 3 hours to put back together. Getting everything lined up was a BITCH! Also after I started it, it ran like shit, wouldn't idle worth a damn. So then I figured I'll drive it and let it learn in the new manifold, yeah that didn't work. It would die at every stop light. So I looked at it again and I had a harness on my fuel rail that wasnt plugged in. Hmmm what did that go to? I looked for like an hour and couldnt figure out what it plugged into and since I was a ways away from my computer I just simply drove home without hooking it up.

The next day I figured it out and all was well. The car is faster but for some reason my rev limiter is cutting in 300 rpm sooner and not exactly in the smoothest fashion. I am now getting backfires when I hit the limiter. sounds kinda cool but im a tad bit worried about it. IDK mercedes benz certified tech doesn't mean jack, I still can't diagnose a problem in less than a damn week.

yeah so I bought a few more items to go on the car. I hope this shit is worth it since im such a cheap guy. Plus because of these im broke till next wed.

First up is these

Treehouse racing eyeball arms. I have had a set of new front control arms, tierods and sway bar endlinks sitting in my closet for about 4 months now but I didnt install them because I wanted to get these first. These make the install much smoother (no use of a press) and they will give me some awesome caster, a slightly wider front track and virtually no flex like the stock rubber bushings do. I literally can not wait to get these on since my front end has been feeling as tight as a soggy boner for over a year now.

Now this is the first power upgrade I have done to the car in going on 2 years now, I never felt I needed it but this is just to simple and is far too effective for me not to do. The picture above is of the bimmerworld kit to fit a older OBD 1 M50 intake manifold to a newer M52/S52 OBD 2 engine (I have that S52 doohicky)

The one on the left is the M50 Manifold that I am installing vs. the factory S52 manifold. Yeah can you believe they put the manifold on the left on a 2.5L and the one on the right on a 3.2L. Its like making the engine breathe through a straw.

Check that out! the ports on the M50 are massive compared to the tiny tubes on my stock intake. No wonder this is supposed to be worth almost 30whp on a S52 n/a

So I barely slept saturday night and got up to leave for the event at like 7 am since it was 2 hours away and opened up at 9 am. Went met up with ryan and picked up my buddy Alan. we wrived at the track kinda late and went through tech pretty smoothly found out there was no tire machine and were bummed about that. it was almost 2 pm before we were able to start driving since we were in the last run group of the day.

First I went and ran the time attack course and I was leaking some coolent from my rad cap... shit, well I'll just keep running, started leaking more and more FUCK!...

well the caps seals broke and not any normal rad cap fits its bimmer specific. So I tried letting it cool down and putting more water in it and sealing the cap with electrical tape but no dice, did about 30 other things till finnally a very nice man named Sean (Thanks man) let me barrow his rad cap from his E30 and I finnally got out on the track missed my entire run group. So I decided that I was just going to get the track time I missed and drove in another group, they didnt seem to mind or more likely didnt notice. The whole time im like pounding down Monsters and getting sun baked.

The course was pretty challenging, I think I linked it clean a total of 2 times meh. I didnt make it to the eliminations and pretty much sucked in general. complete off day for me. well anyway here are some videos. I made it home at about 3 am to wake up at 5 am for work, I was hating life lol

Well I am entered to drive in an event this sunday and should be a blast. HUGE parking lot, so hopefully it will have a pretty fast entry as I have been wanting to do more 3rd gear clutch kick entries and really pour out the smoke.

My buddy Ryan will be out in his first event driving and im stoked to see what his FC turbo can do. Plus I really want to drive it, he hasn't said I could yet but here's hoping.

Its at the Zmax dragway and we are using their parking lot. Supposed to be doing some sort of time attack, drag racing, and drifting. I think I may swap back and forth between the time attack an drifting durring the day.

I should have some video after its all over so wish me luck.

Well its still not bled out right but it sorta works, got some video from a local proving ground. Im still not comfortable using it yet.

Sup, I thought it was about time that I started a blog up about me and my adventures trying to turn my E36 BMW into a daily drifter. I mean everybody and their mother is blogging why am I not on this train of attention seeking and self gratification. Anyways the blog is a little late considering the things that have already been done to the car but I'll start with my latest addition.

The Fail-brake:

I just "finished" it today and im not happy with it yet I don't think its bled out properly yet since my cable ebrake works better and thats not saying much. Im sure its not Powered by MAX's fault just more of me failing at doing things the right way.
